For me, textbooks are always rather time-consuming to get through, and I think they are often too wordy. What's more, after several days I've already forgotten the finer details and nuances. I therefore summarize the books I read as a reference for later. In one or two afternoons I can read a summary and feel like I've read the whole book again. The idea is that they can be read stand-alone without prior knowledge, but I'm not sure if they're that easy to understand.
